It can be developed by scanning the desired photographic view and directly superimposing individually drawn two- dimensional images of the project produced using various computer programs. This technique creates a sense of realism, dimension, and proportional relationships without developing full three-dimensional computer models. Although this effect is very striking, it is limited to “one view” and does not produce the alternative angles that 3D models provide.
The two-dimensional technique is very effective in presenting a project’s relationship to its environment and the visual impact it presents. Uses include public awareness presentations, newspaper publications, and client communications. Two-dimensional photographic overlays can be produced in a relatively short timeframe and reproduced in a variety of sizes.
