Utility/Industrial Services

Volkert, Inc.'s utility experience ranges from sanitary facilities for recreational campsites and small package plants to primary, secondary, and tertiary treatment facilities for major municipalities. Clients include small utility companies and large water and sewer districts serving populations of over two million.

Volkert designs projects that add capacity to existing facilities, but we also upgrade older plants to meet changing state and federal requirements. We design programs for plant operations and preventive maintenance, billings and collections, and personnel management training programs. Volkert uses the latest technology and methods for completing utility projects, including GIS/GPS mapping and state-of-the-art design programs to improve efficiency and quality.

Utility design is a part of almost every Volkert project.  Our engineers are experienced in providing electricity, water, sanitary sewer, gas, fuel, steam, and other utilities for a wide variety of projects such as stadiums, laboratories, airports, waterfront structures, office buildings, housing developments, and industrial plants. Relocation of existing utilities is necessary for many transportation projects.

In addition to design and construction services for large industrial facilities, Volkert also provides architectural and engineering services to rehabilitate and support existing plants.   Volkert has designed some of the most innovative material-handling facilities used in Southern ports.

Design of new industrial process facilities, foundations for equipment, compressed air and steam supply for plant processing, and specialized HVAC systems are examples of assignments Volkert has completed for industrial clients. Other typical projects are the evaluation of storm drainage systems and preparation of time, motion, and traffic studies.
