Survey Services

Since the firm’s inception, survey services have been offered in conjunction with civil, electrical, structural, architectural, and utility design services and as a part of our environmental and construction engineering inspection services.  Volkert, Inc.'s survey clients have included state departments of transportation, municipalities, and individual clients.  We have also performed specialized services such as tower location services for cellular communication providers and land surveys to locate and certify the latitude and longitude of runway ends at airports. Volkert’s professional land surveyors are registered in six states.  Each of Volkert’s survey crews is comprised of a party chief, an instrument person, and a rod person.

Volkert uses state-of-the-art, dual frequency, real-time GPS equipment.  GPS data is recorded in the field using data collectors and downloaded to laptop computers for quick verification.  Then, the field data is transferred to a PC and processed using specialized software that enables the use of latitude and longitude coordinates and state plane coordinates.  When required, the software can be configured to use a local coordinate system.  Electronic Digital Levels with automatic data collecting capabilities are used for setting benchmarks and control levels, thus reducing man-hours and costs.

Accuracy and quality are emphasized throughout every Volkert survey project.  Precision equipment, experience, teamwork, and training are utilized to provide clients with the best possible services. Volkert has a full range of in-house computer capabilities that include interoffice networks communicating with outside computer systems through a T1 line to the internet.  The efficient use of technology plus an emphasis on staff development, a firm commitment to communication with the client, and safety compliance on a site-by-site basis, results in timely, cost-effective survey projects.
