Volkert, Inc. is a multi-discipline consulting engineering firm.  During its history, the firm has been involved in everything from the design for all grading, paving, drainage, potable water, sanitary sewer, and parking facilities for a 70-acre amusement park, to the design for a new boardwalk and wall in front of the pavilions on a public beachfront that had more than its share of hurricane destruction, to the complete site development for a naval base.

Volkert has completed multi-million dollar programs to improve major outfall drainage systems.  The company designed a state park that was largely developed from virgin swamp, including roads, sewage, water and electrical distribution, telephone system, site development, buildings, and an overnight RV camping area with bathhouses.

Volkert provided design services for the sitework and utilities for the construction of the 210-acre Mobile Naval Station located in south Mobile County, Alabama.  The site work included, grading and drainage plans, roadway and utility plan profiles, parking lot design, and switchgear to serve the waterfront facilities.

Volkert has been involved in the demolition of buildings, the opening and closing of landfills, and the design of an oval test track that will be used to test the longevity of asphalt pavements.   The firm was responsible for designing a cathodic protection system to prevent the corrosion of the battleship USS Alabama, and for developing plans to build a protective bulkhead around the ship so that the hull could be repaired.

In the years since Volkert designed and engineered its first project in 1925, the engineers, architects, planners, environmental scientists, surveyors, and technical support personnel who ARE Volkert have completed a myriad of civil engineering projects throughout the United States and internationally.
