Thomas A. Zoghby, CPA, MBA
Senior Vice President
Chief Financial Officer

“Over my 30-year association with the firm, I have valued being a part of a team committed to moving Volkert forward in our business and professional endeavors. For eight years before joining Volkert in 1984, I was the CPA managing external audits and consulting services for the firm. I have enjoyed being a part of the steady, manageable growth that our company has enjoyed. Through this approach we are able to maintain quality while still providing advancement opportunities for our employees. It is fun being part of a company large enough to compete with any firm when it comes to capabilities, but still small enough to maintain the flexibility that a dynamic environment requires.”

As CFO, Tommy Zoghby has overall responsibility for the financial, accounting, legal, and human resource functions. His financial responsibility includes cash management, budgeting, feasibility analysis, capital purchases, financial reporting, investment, taxation, and projections.

He leads all negotiations for leasing arrangements, conducts negotiations with banks or other financial providers in regard to financing programs, and is responsible for negotiation and management of the firm’s various insurance programs. In addition, he coordinates risk management efforts of the firm.

His human resources responsibilities include managing and coordinating the legal aspects of personnel issues along with related regulatory compliance. Also, all employee benefit retirement plans and insurance programs are designed and coordinated through Zoghby.

Internally, Zoghby coordinates with project personnel on project related economic and financial services, including financial feasibility, economic studies and proposed financing plans. He also assists in contract negotiations as they relate to pricing and overhead requirements.

Like all members on Volkert’s management team, Zoghby makes time to serve his community. He currently serves on the boards of the American Red Cross for the Mobile area and the University of South Alabama National Alumni Association (Treasurer). He is on the Legislative Affairs Committee for the Mobile Chamber of Commerce, on the Tax and Human Resources Committees for the Business Council of Alabama, and on the Senior Bowl Committee. A graduate of 1994 Leadership Mobile, he is a past board member of several organizations including the Mobile Area Chamber of Commerce (finance committee chair), the Mobile Chapter of  the American Heart Association, the Mobile Kiwanis Club, the Mobile Touchdown Club, and the Mobile Chapter of the Better Business bureau, and is a member of the Employee Ownership Association.

He was presented the 1997 Volkert Chairman’s Award to recognize his contributions to the company.

Zoghby’s professional memberships include the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Alabama Society of Certified Public Accountants. He has a B.S. in Accounting and an MBA from the University of South Alabama.
