Roger Guilian joined Volkert & Associates in August 2004 as
General Counsel and Assistant Vice President after a rewarding and
successful six year career in private practice. During that time,
Guilian gained extensive jury trial experience, trying dozens of
insurance defense cases and litigating hundreds of suits to
favorable resolutions on behalf of companies such as State Farm
Mutual Automobile Insurance Company, State Farm Fire & Casualty
Company, Grocers Insurance Company, and others. In his current
capacity as Volkert’s General Counsel, Guilian is responsible for
the delivery of all legal services, including the conduct and
resolution of all litigation, the oversight and management of
external counsel, the legal review of all significant transactions,
and continued emphasis and cultivation of risk avoidance and
management practices for Volkert’s operations.

Guilian is a 1995 magna cum laude graduate of The
University of Alabama and a 1998 graduate of The University of
Alabama School of Law. His professional affiliations include the
American Bar Association, the Alabama State Bar, the Mobile County
Bar Association, the Defense Research Institute, the Association of
Corporate Counsel, and the American Council of Engineering Companies
(ACEC) Legal Counsels’ Forum. Guilian contributes to the community
through his membership in Rotary International and the Mobile
Touchdown Club. He is also an active member of The University of
Alabama National Alumni Association and the Baldwin County Chapter
of the Alabama Alumni Association. He is a former Board member and
Past President of the Mobile County Alabama Alumni Chapter. Guilian
is an avid sportsman and outdoor enthusiast. In addition to
participating in a number of conservation and wildlife
organizations, Guilian serves as President of Mobile County Wildlife
& Conservation Association (MCWCA), and as a member of the Board and
Executive Committee of the Mobile Chapter of the National Wild
Turkey Federation (NWTF).
Guilian’s
personal interests include the outdoors, writing, sports, music, and
cooking. He and his wife Leslie are the proud parents of three
wonderful children, a son and two daughters. The Guilians are
members of St. James Episcopal Church in Fairhope, Alabama. When he
is not spending time with his young family, Guilian enjoys turkey
hunting, whitetail deer hunting, outdoor writing, and attending
Crimson Tide football games.
