Perry Hand came to Volkert in 1993 and serves as President and Chief Marketing Officer, overseeing corporate marketing services. Hand also expanded the Program/Construction Managment and Right of Way operations.  He was also the  principal oversight in charge of operations for the firm’s Central Region with engineering offices in Tennessee, Illinois, Missouri, North Carolina and Georgia.  He received the Volkert Chairman’s Award for 2002.

 Hand graduated from Auburn University in 1969 with a B.S. in Civil Engineering and holds an Honorary Doctorate from Lincoln Memorial University in Harrogate, Tennessee. He is licensed in eight states as a P.E. and/or P.L.S., and prior to accepting a position with Volkert, he was president of a consulting engineering/land surveying firm that he founded. He is active in a number of engineering and surveying professional organizations.

 Hand served as Highway Director for the State of Alabama from1991-1993, Alabama’s Secretary of State from 1989 to 1991, and was elected to two terms in the Alabama Senate. By gubernatorial appointment, Hand served on the Historic Blakely Authority, the Governor’s Vocational/Technical Education Planning Committee, and the Weeks Bay National Estuarine Reserve Advisory. As a Senator, Hand served on numerous legislative committees and was recognized by his fellow senators as the Most Outstanding Legislator in 1988.
